Saturday’s grading

Saturday’s grading was a great success: Ella, Aine and Craig all double graded to red belt and in total 20 people graded. It was noted that Eoin did exceptionally well in his grading. Nia and Robert are now brown belts!

Winter Newsletter

Winter Newsletter

The Winter 2011 newsletter is out (to view click on the newsletter thumbnail image on the right).

In this issue the next grading date is announced (10th of December 2011).  And featured is the recent Shodan grading that was successfully passed by Liam, Cameron & Aaron – CONGRATULATIONS GUYS – and if you want to see more of them click here.

A special mention is made to poor old Rob that had a little accident recently (broken fingers!) and a warning to always keep your fists tightly clenched when sparring and in basic training – its a warning always mentioned but often under appreciated.

Please note that after the grading on the 10th of December the club will be taking a break for Christmas.  What this space for the full and correct Christmas holiday dates.

2011 Aragane course photographs up (at last)!

Ok, The summer 2011 Aragane course photographs are up and you can view them now.  Sorry about the slight delay (4 or 5 months!) with this and thanks to those to contacted me recently and provided words of encouragement (!!! you know who you are !!!) to help get this completed.  Anyways they are up now and all we’ve got to do is title them.

Congratulations to the three young lads that recently graded to black belts – we’ll have photos of them up there ASAP too.

The photos are viewable from the Photographs page in the menu on the right or you can click on photograph below to view all photographs.

Aragane Course Summer 2011

Photos from the Aragane Sensei course which ran in the Shoreline leisure centre in July 2011. Many group attended including local parties such as Kilmacanogue karate club, DCU, UCD and a number of foreign clubs from Germany and the Netherlands. The Glenview karate club (the organisers) were, needless to say, in full attendance too.

Last class tonight & a new newsletter

July 2011 Newsletter

July 2011 Newsletter (click to view PDF)

Tonight’s class is the last before the August holiday & the next class will be held on Tuesday the 6th of September.  Aragane Sensei took the Tuesday class and has left for Japan – we’ll be seeing him again towards December.

Sensei Dave supplied a new Newsletter and its here for you to download as usual.  In this edition the Aragane course (last month) gets a lot of space.  There is an announcement that, after summer, it looks like we’ll be getting an extra 1/2 hour on Thursday (great stuff).  Finally there is a bit of congratulating, and commiserations, in relation to the recent Shodan (1st dan) black belt grading.

BTW Alex has emailed me photos of the Aragane course and the photos will be up here soon (as soon as I work out how to get them up here that is…)

Looks like a great weekend coming up

We have confirmation that people are coming from various Karate clubs in the locality as well as European groups arriving in Dublin airport this afternoon and evening.  All in all its shaping up to to be a great weekend although if the couple of classes that Aragane Sensei has given this week are anything to go by it’ll be tough work keeping up.

** Note that there will [obviously] be NO class held in the Glenview hotel this Saturday morning!
