Mawaseo Kawaseo training

Hi all,  I received this flyer from Liam Murphy of DCU Karate club (Irish Shotokan Institute) with details of the one day training course with Mawaseo Kawasoe Sensei (8th Dan) which is taking place on St. Patrick’s college, Drumcondra road, Dublin 9 this coming Sunday (21/Feb/2010).  Prices are EUR 20 for white to purple belts and EUR 35 for brown and black belts.  For more information, and to book, please email dcukarate@gmail.com or telephone 087 202 9080.

Jan/2010 newsletter

The next grading is taking place on SATURDAY THE 20TH OF FEBRUARY 2010 at 11AM.  More information is in the January newletter which you can view here: http://www.glenviewkarate.com/media/GVK-Jan-2010.pdf.  Also in this newsletter: Aragane Sensei is taking classes until 26/Feb/2010, Roisin and Tristan win the Kakora awards in 2009 and everyone must pay their bills or else.

2010 classes began last week (12th January 2010) with Aragane Sensei instructing and attendance has been quite high.  Current class times are as per the CLASS TIMES page.

It was announced on Thursday that Aragane Sensei will be back and taking classes from December 2009 through to Feburary 2010.  Everyone has been asked to try to make it look like we’ve practised and learnt something since he was last with us.  And no mention of any possible grading dates yet but it’ll be here if/when known…

As in previous years there will be NO classes during August.  This means the last class will be this Thursday (the 30th of July 2009).  Classes will resume in September (Tuesday the 1st of September 2009).  Until then enjoy the holidays and don’t get too lazy.

This Thursday (9th July 2009) will be the final day with Aragane Sensei as he will shortly be leaving for Japan.

Grading on Saturday went very well with a high standard generally.

A new newsletter was released on Saturday (20/Jun/2009) and if you didn’t get a paper copy you can view it here: http://www.glenviewkarate.com/media/GlenViewKarate-22-Jun22-2009.pdf.  The June 2009 newsletter mentions Alex’s success in the National Championships, thanks Aragane Sensei for currently taking classes and asks “what’s up with Dave’s broken ankle?”.

Also it was announced that the next grading is taking place on Saturday the 4th of July.  This is VERY near so if you don’t know your Kata then PRACTISE - and videos of all the junior Kata are viewable on the Katas [videos] page too).

Aragane Sensei is back from Japan and instructing again from today so its well worth attending classes.

This does open up the possibility of a pre-August summer grading and as always any dates will be posted here if/when known (or even rumoured…).

There will be no class on Easter Saturday (11th April 2009).  There WILL be classes on the Tuesday and Thursday before and after Easter weekend - i.e only one class cancelled.

Grading for all belts above red will be taking place on Saturday the 21st of February 2009 at 11AM (with registration no later than 10:30AM).

The February newsletter is released also (if you didn’t get a paper copy you can view it here: http://www.glenviewkarate.com/media/gvk-feb-09.pdf). An important item detailed in the newsletter is a change to Tuesdays class time whereby the class will end at 7PM rather than 7:15PM (CLASS TIMES).
